We stumbled on Kennington Tandoori as it was close to our London accommodation where we were staying. We didn't have a reservation and weren't sure we could be seated as it was a busy Friday night. The staff were very welcoming and found us a table right away. After we had our drinks, the chef came by and introduced himself. He was very passionate about his food, the care that was put into it and a very gracious host. We started with the KT sharing platter (Angara Chicken Tikka, Classic Onion Bhajee, Lahore Sheek Kebab, Punjabi Vegetable Samosa) followed by the Lahore Lamb Sheek Kebab, Tandoori Paneer & Peas Masala and Saffron Pilau. All were excellent and well-prepared. KT's lovely Art Deco interior sets it apart from the standard Indian restaurant decor fare. Nice spot for an intimate dinner for a couple or a group of friends! With drinks and tip we thought the bill was more than reasonable. In the 10 days we were in London this was the best meal we had all week!!! Kennington Tandoori is 2021 Michelin listed and is now our favourite spot in London! Can't wait to visit again.

I went with a friend for lunch during the middle of the week: it was very quiet. The place is cozy, very clean and comfortable. This had been recommended to us and in more pleasant surprise we were entitled to a discount with a check-in Yelp. We took one of the specialties, a classic one. All very well done, very well presented plate. A tasty, hearty dish with attention to detail. We want to try other dishes for sure. Discreet and efficient service although a bit cold but otherwise address I would recommend without hesitation.

Dare I say, that this was a better and more fulfilling meal/experience than Dishoom? After a disappointing meal at Dishoom our first night in London, we decided to give Indian food a second chance. Kennington Tandoori was surprisingly open until the late hours and the four of us were the only party in the restaurant. Servers were extremely attentive and gave us Americans great service (as we laughed and drank in the corner booth...). We ordered a mixture of curries and grilled meats. Everything was deliciously sweet and spicy. Hearty portions with comparable prices. Definitely on the pricier side compared to American Indian restaurants, but I can't say that many American Indian restaurants have gotten a Michelin nod.

As an American, I have to start by saying that we don't have the same vibrant Indian culinary tradition that Britain does, so I can't compare KT to any other Indian Brit establishments. But compared to our Indian food in the US, I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Service was very prompt and polite. The food was amazing, from the mango lassi I downed in maybe three sips to the gajar halwa (shredded carrot dessert) that completely blew away my expectations for a dessert made of carrots. My lamb biryani with dhal sauce was perfectly done, with a nice added touch of showmanship when my server cut open the top of the crispy little dough dome right at our table for me. The portions were great; I ended up having more than I could finish. Wonderful experience!

OK - I admit that I was spoilt when living in Hertford and having the amazing Bollywood Indian restaurant on my doorstep. Quality, fresh and contemporary environment. 'Love Love Love the newly remodelled Kennington Tandoori'!!! The decor is great and the food is amazing. I beg you to go in and order what you always order when you have Indian. You will re-fall in love with Indian food!!! The Brinjal Bhajee was the best I have ever had - I would consider ordering it as a main and eat it like a salad. Crunchy, spicy and incredibly fresh. Chicken Shashlik was moist and full of flavour. The rice was puffy and chewy and the mint sauce is perfect. ...and they deliver!!! A must for people who enjoy quality, modern, fresh food.

Crikey this place was busy on Friday night! Probably due to a little sporting tournament called 'The ashes' taking place at the nearby Oval. The queue was out the door (not sure if this is a regular occurrence), but fortunately we had booked ahead. Six of us were squeezed around a table for four, in a room which is essentially 2 rows of tables and a narrow corridor for the waiters to run up and down. The wine selection was good, for an Indian restaurant, and the menu was extensive. I found it quite hard to choose - there was so much choice... In the end i settled for a Palek Ghosh (lamb and spinach dish). It lacked as much spice as i normally go for in a curry, but maybe this is the traditional way it was meant to be served. Most of the mains were under a tenner, but i thought the rice was quite expensive (£2.25 +) for the portion size. I'd go back here again with a group of friends - we all seemed to enjoy it. The decor is nice and the crockery/cutlery stylish. The waiters handled the full restaurant of demanding customers very well and all in our bill came to a very reasonable £115 for 6 mains, 4 rice, 2 naan, 6 popadums, 4 cobras, one bottle of wine and one bottle of water...i think...
